We’re known for having great hair glue and wigs, so the number one rule after your on-location appointment is simple: protect the work for the first 48 hours. That usually means no washing, no heavy sweating, and no letting Bronx weather (humidity, surprise rain, even those Nor’easter-style showers) soak or frizz what we just set. You booked on-location because you need real convenience. A few smart do’s and don’ts right after your service keep that “just done” look looking done.

Your first 24 to 48 hours: keep water, sweat, and friction off your style

Right after an On-Location Mobile Hair Service, your result is at its most delicate. So we keep it basic and realistic.

Subway and bus tip (Bronx edition)

Yes, you can take the subway home after a mobile blowout or style. The trick is friction control. Keep hair off rough coat collars, and don’t wedge your hair between a scarf and your neck. If you’re commuting from Williamsbridge or Wakefield into Manhattan, bring a soft, loose scarf that won’t crush volume. If it’s raining, use a hood or umbrella, and once you’re inside, blot any damp spots. Don’t rub.

A tiny travel kit saves your style

• Travel dry shampoo (for oil at roots without water)
• A wide-tooth comb (especially if you have extensions)
• Anti-frizz or anti-humidity spray (light mist, not sticky)
• A few bobby pins or a soft scrunchie (no tight elastics)

The first week: keep your install looking fresh, not “handled”

For the first week, be gentle at the roots. Don’t scratch aggressively, don’t pick at parts, and don’t overload your scalp with heavy oils that attract buildup. If you’re wearing a wig install or using strong-hold glue, moisture and steam are usually the fastest way to shorten wear time, so keep showers quick and keep the bathroom vent running.

And watch the weather. Bronx humidity can swell hair fast, and those unpredictable wet days can hit when you’re stepping out to the bus. Cover the hair, get inside, then let it fully air-dry before you start brushing or combing.

If we installed tape-ins or you’re wearing clip-ins, detangle slowly and start at the ends. Work up in sections and keep your other hand supporting at the root so you’re not yanking. For tape-in areas, avoid soaking, heavy conditioner directly at the attachment points, and sleeping with damp hair. Pools and ocean water are rough on any install, so we generally recommend waiting 72 hours unless we’ve talked through a specific waterproof plan for your hair.

Most “my hair didn’t last” problems come down to two things: what happened overnight, and what happened on the way out the door.

At night, use a silk pillowcase or a bonnet. If you have longer hair, wrap it loosely so the ends aren’t rubbing all over. Don’t go to sleep with wet hair, especially if you have glue, tape, or a wig install that needs to stay dry to hold.

In winter, wet weather protection matters. If your coat collar is grabbing your hair, pin it up softly before you head out, then release it once you’re inside. If you’re traveling through Co-op City, Yonkers, Pelham, Pelham Manor, Eastchester, or Mount Vernon, pack that little anti-frizz and dry shampoo combo. It’s small, but it keeps your style looking intentional.

A little scalp sensitivity after braiding or a fresh install can be normal. Some people also notice a bit of tightness that eases as your scalp relaxes. What we don’t want is pain, persistent redness, or anything that feels like it’s getting worse instead of better.
